Soulo Travel App - Prototype

Team: Claret Egwim, Kasey Le, Kiran Sonea, Van Mai

Soulo is a hypothetical travel app aimed at alleviating some pain points when it comes to travelling abroad. The common pain points include, language barriers, cultural differences, and difficulty finding interesting activities to engage in. We created a Figma prototype to demonstrate our proposed solutions to tackle the pain points.

Styleguide

I was responsible for designing the UI elements and planning the user journey. The color branding went through numerous iterations, and we ultimately decided to focus on shades of reddish orange to spark warmth and spontaneity. Below are the UI elements and components I worked on for the Figma prototype.

User Journey Map & Personas

After a series of user research through various interview sessions with target audiences, as well as secondary research from existing travel apps, I designed graphics of the user journey to communicate and illustrate our findings of the target audience to stakeholders.

Reflection

After our proposal presentation, the stakeholders responded well to our prototype and potential solutions. Despite some room for granularity with the mechanics behind approving an invite, the stakeholders greatly appreciated our level of foresight for the different scenarios that may occur when tackling the pain points.

While looking back at this school project, I not only obtained more experience with graphics and user experience, but also additional experience working with a diverse background of participants and teams alike.

Too Good to Go - Personas & Wireframes

Team: Kasey Le, Van Mai

Too Good to Go is an existing app aimed at repurposing older food items at discounted bundles, to avoid food waste. As a team, we conducted interviews with a target audience of individuals to generate personas.

I designed digital posters representing the personas of the target audience, containing a storyboard, their motivations for using the app, and any pain points encountered. These posters effectively communicated the root cause of the pain points, as well as the different perspectives, to the stakeholders.

Wireframe path navigation

With the curated personas, as a team we ideated on potential solutions towards the common pain points expressed. Using Figma, I designed wireframe mockups to allow the stakeholders visualize our proposed solutions.

Reflection

Our stakeholders commented on our thoughtfulness regarding our framed problem, as well as our safety measures, when implementing a public marketplace feature. The wireframes navigation was also commented to be very clear.

From this project, I learned effective methods to gather user storyboards and personas, as well as drilling into the root causes of pain points.
