At Simon Fraser University, I designed and executed marketing communications, including social media posts, physical print handouts, web banners, emails, and web pages, translating departmental goals into engaging creative content that complies with branding.
I also collaborated directly with student clientele to gather feedback, acting as a bridge to translate their needs into a functional and well-designed blog showcase.
Below are some of my project highlights I was involved with.
These are some of my social media banners I designed to promote the Simon Fraser University's Endowed Chair Speakers. I made social media banners for Endowed Chair Speakers. Multiple banners were designed for various social media sites, including Twitter (as seen here), Facebook, and LinkedIn.
The speaker as the focal foreground element, "pops" out of the faded background by having a darker grey tone.
Careful considerations were made to keep the branding consistent with the Simon Fraser University Styleguide. This includes the dark red foreground elements and grey background.

These are physical card handouts to inform new graduate students of the various SFU student services. These cards had a front and backside, with the front containing title and visual content, and the backside containing a detailed textual information about the student services.
The frontside, a similar strategy was carried over from the Endowed Speaker banner, make the students, "pop" out of the faded background by having a darker grey tone. The formation of the students compliment the left headings, forming a upward slope acting as a guide, as well as keeping the content balanced for the right side.
The backside, went through a number of iterations. Readability was the goal for the heavy amount of information.

I designed engaging Web banners for the Graduate Student Orientation Online Course. These are featured on the course front page.
I designed personalized student profile pages using Adobe Experience Manager, and inquired with them to gather their feedback for the page.
To help other people and myself with content generation, I developed Profile Helper, an automated tool to assist with content managagment. You can read more about it in the link below:
Profile HelperI edited videos for the student graduate services, adding animations and audio. Some tools I used to render the videos were Adobe AfterEffects, and Adobe Premiere.
Upon the end of my contract, I obtained practical professional graphic design skills, branding skills, content management skills, web design skills, and online advertising skills. I also obtained collaboration skills with my communications department and graduate students. The experience working as a Web Designer/Marketing Communications Specialist for Simon Fraser University was invalauble, as it gave me a new and fresh perspectives of the student body. Learning about what they study never felt like a chore for me, rather it gave me an oppurtunity to reflect upon myself and the different avenues I could explore in my future. Whether your pursuit be for financial purposes or personal intrests, my role working at Simon Fraser University gave me the opportunity to hear the different stories behind the graduate students. It made me realize that your career path can be quite unpredicatble and uncoventional.
